With the holidays upon us, won’t you help us share the holiday spirit and love to hungry children? Today I’m sharing how in Giving Back: Helping Starving Children in Venezuela.
Happy holiday season everyone! I hope you have been able to spend time with those you love. I truly love this season as I reflect on the many things I am grateful for in my life. One big one being ALL OF YOU.
I would like to personally and sincerely thank each and every one of you for your support in our efforts to help the humanitarian crisis in Venezuela. Thank you thank you thank you so much for your support in reading Aid for Venezuela, for sharing it, for visiting our Aid for Venezuela GoFundMe page, and/or for contributing.
Since we began raising funds and sending boxes of food/medical supplies in January 2017, we have raised $9,727 and sent over 200 large boxes and aided countless families. With each and every one of these boxes, we are giving people the opportunity to eat another day, feed their children and keep going in their lives. And it wouldn’t have been possible without your help.
However it pains me to say our work is far from over. The situation is steadily worsening to the point that parents are having to give away their children because they can no longer feed them. As a parent and daughter, I cannot fathom the pain of what that even feels like.
A staggering 71% of children are lacking inadequate nutrition under the age of 5. In the Washington Post article we meet Dayana Silgado, 28, who was forced to surrender her 2 youngest children to an orphanage center because she knew it was the only way they would be fed. And yet even the food in these centered is not enough for the number of abandoned hungry children they support. For this reason, we have been focused on helping to feed starving, groups of young orphans and malnourished babies.
With a so many families with children and groups of orphaned/abandoned children that we want to help, we need your help this holiday season. The current GoFundMe contributions we have left are enough to send about a dozen boxes, which can sustain a family or group of children for a few weeks. But so much more is needed.
During this time of gratitude, my family and I ask for your help to spread some holiday kindness to those less fortunate, those suppressed by their government and those simply trying to survive. Kindness is never ever wasted.
