Refocusing my thoughts and emotions on the positive with a short and sweet Gratitude List 9.19.
Today I’m sharing a little less about food and more about how I’ve been feeling. Sometimes for me, it feels good to write things out, share it and learn from other.
August was a challenging month. And as I thought about how to write about this a few weeks ago, I found myself stuck on the negative. Focusing on the things weighing me down.
The more I’ve read and experienced first had, that more I’ve learned it’s better to feel our emotions then to try to suppress them. For me this looked like writing down the things that seemed to be weighing me down. Looking at them, reading them, feeling them, and then moving on to the positive things.
So I did that.
And it felt good. I stared at every line, felt everything I needed to feel and decided September was going to be a better month. Plus it’s my birthday month, so that’s always a perk.
Now to focus on the positive. And when I think about the positive, I think about all of the things I am grateful for.
Gratitude List 9.19
Change in seasons
The chill in the air, the changing leaves and that fall feeling is intoxicating. All I want to do is go for walks with my family, drink hot beverages and cuddle up with a blanket. And although a large part of me is nervous for the winter ahead, I know it will be OK. We will savor the fall, live up the holidays with our littles, find ways to avoid cabin fever, enjoy the snow, and hygge to the max.
Time with my Sister
Although it was short, I feel so grateful to have spent time with my sister recently. Not only did she watch my kiddos for me during her time off, but I was able to spend some quality moments with her too. Living in different parts of the world makes seeing each other a challenge, so I really cherished our few days together. Counting the days to see her again.
Quality Time with my Girls
The last month has meant longer days with my girls and although some moments are challenging, most are a gift. My kids are growing up so quickly, one is even out of diapers (!!!!) and I am forever grateful for each walk, each laugh, each dance, each story, each hug, each moment I get to share with them.
Summer
I am truly grateful for a beautiful summer.
- Seeing my kids bask in the glory of playgrounds, splash pads and backyard sprinkler time was priceless.
- Countless summer runs with my youngest.
- Family time and family visits made for some special memories.
- Sharing the craziness of summer with my love: doing the mundane house chores, managing the weekly grind, finding time for, and making our girls’ birthdays special.
Happy September everyone.
“Autumn shows us how beautiful it is to let things go.”
What are you grateful for in this moment?
