Whether she says she wants to do gifts or not, a sweet Valentines day gesture is always appreciated. Here are some of our favorite Simple Eco-Friendly V-Day Treats for Her.
Valentines Day spurs mixed feelings for me. I love the idea of spending time with a loved one or loved ones (shout out to Galentine’s day!) But at the same time I hate the commercialization and high expectations that come from this Hallmark holiday.
I think Valentine’s Day should just be a sweet reminder to do something kind for that person in your life that is always there for you. And it doesn’t need to be on Feb 14 specifically. Plus have you tried doing anything that day, it sucks!
Before the hubs was in my life, I always tried to treat myself on Valentines week and planned a fun outing with friends. And personally I loved that. Now with the hubs, our Valentines traditions have really become about spending quality time with each other.
We never do BIG gift. Instead we plan a sweet date night, do something kind for the other person, or surprise each other with a little thoughtful token of appreciation and it’s pretty fun. So this Valentines day or week, regardless of your situation, do what feels right, spend time with those you love and forget the rest.
Simple Eco-Friendly V-Day Treats for Her
1. Fair Trade Chocolate, a favorite beverage and Massage
Chocolate is cliche, but what human person doesn’t like chocolate???? Opt for some really good fair trade chocolate bars then find her favorite drink. And think more than just wine, perhaps: cider, cocktail, kombucha, tea, turmeric latte, or her fav la Croix.
Then do a tiny bit of research on some good foot/back massage tips. After a long day, this is a total winner!
2. Plants!
Green thumb or not, plants are just beautiful and live way longer than flowers. Little ones, big ones, big leafy ones or succulents, they are all good. Do a tad of research on some low maintenance plants just in case and share your newly learned knowledge.
3. Bubbles, Books and Vino
This one may not be super eco-friendly, but it’s simple and will truly be loved. Run her a bath, lots of bubbles, a few candles and pour a glass of her favorite wine. Surprise her after work, take the kids and ask her to enjoy some time with her favorite book. Simple but sweet.
4. Fuel the Snack Attacks
Seek out her favorite snacks along with some fun sustainable snacking containers like ([amazon text=jars&asin=B00A0KUGYU], [amazon text=baggies&asin=B01KRA981E ]or [amazon text=bowls&asin=B07KW69ND1]).
Think granola, pretzels, fun popcorn, trail mix, crackers, chocolate, tea, hot chocolate. Then set it out in your kitchen, write a sweet note and let her simply find them.
5. Something Wooden, Something Pretty
For the jewelry lovers, surprise her with a sweet wooden pendant. The hubs got me a very thoughtful “mama bear” necklace shortly after becoming pregnant with my first that still means so much to me to this day. Not because it was pricey or flashy but due to the reason and meaning.
6. But First Coffee… and a Pretty Sustainable Mug
This one is for all the coffee lovers out there, for whom good coffee is everything. Two fun ways to gift the precious gift of caffeine is with a high quality bag of beans from a local roaster or a gift card to fancy coffee shop. And of course throw in a [amazon text=pretty coffee mug&asin=B00H9E4F3I ] to help her drink her brew while she tackles her day and saves the environment.
7. If all else fails, get a sitter, drop the kids off and make dinner together.
Never ever underestimate the power of food made with love and time spent together. Even if you can’t get a sitter, or are not a great cook, wait til the kids go to bed, make something super simple (like Emeril’s 4 ingredient Fettuccine Alfredo), pick up a nice dessert and enjoy the moment.
Have fun!💕
