Life with 2 kids under 3 is nothing short of a daily adventure! No matter what plans we have or don’t have, our days are fun, wild and unpredictable. This is a typical Day in the Life {9 month old and almost 3 year old}.
It’s funny how adding 1 kid to the dynamic changed everything. Being at home with my sweet Poppy for 2+ years was an amazing learning experience and allowed me to get into a groove for parenting and everyday life.
We had a daily routine going and it totally worked for us. Lots of plans and a much more scheduled daily life. Once we welcomed our little Cora Bean… that changed.
With 2 littles, day to day has slowed down in a way. I have more going on between changing diapers, chasing a crawling baby, feeding 2 kids and helping my toddler, but at the same time, our days are filled with less to-dos and that’s a good thing.
I use to feel like I had to keep Poppy entertained especially as the only child, but now she has her sister. And although Beany is still young, my 2 girls are learning to play with each other, “share” toys and support each other.
It has been an absolute wonder watching my girls build a relationship and really learn to accept and love each other. And I feel that every day they spend together just helps them become better sisters to each other.
On that note, here is a typical day for us lately. Nothing too complicated, just lots of time for my girls to have fun, explore, learn and make mistakes.
5AM: I start the day with a 30 min yoga flow. Loving Cat Meffan’s intermediate Yoga on YouTube. Then it’s all about coffee and computer work before my household gets up.
6:40AM: Hub’s lunch is packed (bagel and cream cheese, coffee, kefir, and lunch burrito) and he is off to work. I get a litte more done while I spy on Poppy through the monitor. She is up and playing with her magnetic tiles. Cora will be up in about 5 minutes, probably.
7:15AM: Both girls eat breakfast. Poppy gets a 1 egg omelette with cheese and a piece of leftover bacon from last night’s carbonara, plus berries. Beany get sprouted bread with peanut butter and raspberries to munch on, while I feed her blueberry prune oats.
Play time for the girls while I clean up and do dishes. I also get an early morning art project prepped, to change things up. Since I’m still teaching Poppy how to NOT paint on her body, art time always leads to bath time.
10AM: Post bath, we are all ready go get out and do something. I feed Beany and head out for a run and park time. After an hour or so, we returned home. Beany is sleeping so Poppy and I practice riding her bike and garden…apparently.
Poppy and I take quick showers and then LUNCH TIME!
Salmon, pasta and carrots for the tot. A random salad for me (cabbage, roasted veggies, leftover salmon and my 5 min hummus dressing) I prep a lunch bowl for the hubs since he is finishing the rest of the day from home.
1:15PM: Quiet time for Poppy with a little milk and dried fruit. Some me-time since both girls are sleeping at the same time!!!! Trail mix, tea, good tunes and computer time…woohoo!
2:20PM: Both girls up at the same time. Poppy plays with her magnetic tiles while Cora puts them all in her mouth. I get some laundry done.
3:30PM: Hubs is done with work and plays with girls while I make dinner. It’s Baked Ziti and garlic toast night! YUM! While dinner is in the oven, the hubs and I chat and play with the girlies.
5:45PM: Dinner is ready. We devour it, clean up and I head out to a 6:30PM tennis lesson.
7:45PM: I get home and both girls are in bed and I’m ready to chill with the hubs.
Good night!
