Hi guys! What’s happening?! Just realized that every time I write a Currently Loving post I somehow include a photo of a beautiful latte! I guess it’s pretty clear what I am constantly loving… COFFEE!
So anyway, grab a cup of something yummy and let’s chat.
It’s been a while. The last few 3 weeks have flown by (as usual) and I’ve mostly shared easy fast recipes we have making during all the daily craziness. But today I’m going to give the food a break and share some fun things bringing me joy.
What are you into lately? You know things making you smile and making your day just a little bit more special. I truly thrive off of this. Especially on long long therapy days when my Poppy is up at 3am followed by a full 9+hours of therapy, finding happiness in small things makes the days so much better.
Today’s list is a mix of everything, from clothes to food to TV. What do you think? Got anything you are loving right now? If so please share it!
1.Overalls!
Oh yes they are back! Finally! I remember wearing overalls as an 8 year old in Venezuela and loving them. It’s crazy I remember everything from the color to the feel of those cute little overalls. And now as a 32 year old I’m ecstatic to have overalls back!
I love these black [amazon text=Revolt Overalls&asin=B07DQVRGD3] so much lately. So comfortable, versatile and flattering. Not too warm or stiff and great to wear all day at home or out and about.
2. Stasher Bags
I finally ordered these bad boys. What are they you ask? [amazon text=Stasher Bags &asin=B01DZQT9CU] are silicone reusable ziploc bags essentially that can do so much! Dishwasher/microwave/freezer safe, durable and leak proof. I purchased the bundle with different sizes and so far have found all of them useful.
This is a phenomenal way to reduce plastic waste in your kitchen, so give them a try! Wasting less plastic brings me more joy than you will ever know! WOOT WOOT for less plastic!
3. My Cloud Shoes
Ok they are really called [amazon text=Brooks GTS 16 &asin=B071YZSSCP] but I call them my cloud shoes because they are soft and heavenly. After a long winter I started running back in March and noticed by knee was acting up again. So I got fitted at the running store and was recommended these shoes.
They have changed everything. My knee has not hurt once since I got these and I’ve been running about 10-12 miles a week. I haven’t been this happy with a pair of running shoes in a long time and since they are technically last year’s model they are not as pricey win win!
4. Tuesday Night Board Nights
In the past I’ve talked about our weekly date night which involves the hubs and I leaving the girls with family and going out to eat and do something fun around the city.
Well with our current schedule (ABA Therapy hours and longer work hours), we decided to give ourselves another stress-free night.
Tuesdays are now deemed Board night. This means no cooking dinner on Tuesday nights, no dishes, girls are in bed by 730 and we enjoy a dinner board with a nice beverage in hand after that.
Some of our favorite board dinners include:
- Cheese, bread, fruit, olives, nuts, chocolate, and hard-boiled eggs
- Smoked salmon, cream cheese, bagels, and veggies
- Make ahead Meatballs, sauce or dip, cheese, fruit, and bread
- Hummus & veggies, dried fruit, nuts, and hard-boiled eggs
- Burrata and tomatoes, baguette, fruit, nuts, and chocolate
5. Front Knotting T Shirts
This is kind of a weird one but it’s making me so happy. Recently I did my usually spring wardrobe cleaning. Basically going through all of my clothes, trying everything on, figuring out what fits/what doesn’t, and donating what I don’t wear. In doing so, I realized a lot of my t-shirts are either old and stretched out or simply a little baggie right now (chest shrunk post baby#2).
But instead of donating tees I love, I’ve started making a lovely little front twisty knot and it’s so darn cute and comfy! Such a simple thing cute trick that gives an old new life.
6. Popsicle season is here!
I’ve been cranking out fruit popsicles likes it’s my job lately! Blueberry peanut butter, mango coconut, berry coconut! These are such great treats for kids and really fun to eat outside!
7. Architecture and Our Planet
The hubs and I have been really into design/architecture shows lately: World’s Most Extraordinary Homes and Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Lobby. Especially after our Frank Lloyd Wright home visit in Chicago. So these 2 Netflix shows have been fun to throw on as we unwind for the evening and chit chat about stuff.
On our family watch list right now, we are loving the Our Planet series on Netflix! Poppy loves learning about animals which is a nice change to cartoons. This show is colorful, eye-opening and truly informative. Nature undoubtedly amazing and sadly we are destroying it.
8. Pre-bed Mini Meditation
Two month ago, I heard the Andy Puddicombe: All it takes is 10 mindful minutes | TED Talk. Meditation has always been something I’ve wanted to try, especially when I start feeling overwhelmed and want to find a way to calm my thoughts before bed.
I started slow and did 5 minutes every night before bed with the HeadSpace App. Honestly I really liked it! Not only is the app fun, self explanatory and relaxing but it’s been an effective way to find some inner peace before bed.
From there, I’ve moved to the Insight Timer App and hope to also try the Calm App. My hope is to try different apps and find the one that works best for me and that is also free. I’m still very much absorbing all of the beginner/introduction sessions which has been challenging and informative.
No big goal here other than to continue this practice as long as it feels good, helps me stay in the present, and calms by thoughts.
