You do not need to buy an expensive useless presents to show your sweetie you care. Instead choose a small thoughtful gift he will use and love.
The hubs and I are not huge expensive Valentine’s Day gift givers. Instead we use this day as a reminder to spend some time together and do something nice for the other person.
Over the years, we have done everything from going out to fancy dinners, gotten professional messages, recreated our first date, spent a lovely staycation in downtown Minneapolis and tried our hand at making lobster and homemade pasta at home. Every year we try something new that is creative and doable at that point in our lives.
This year our valentine’s day is split into two. 1. A fun family day with our toddler filled with her favorite foods and an adventure in the city. 2. A date night for just the 2 of us at a new exotic restaurant followed by dessert at one of our favorite spots.
My best advise for Valentine’s Day is, don’t stress it! Think about what your guy likes and plan or buy something small that he will really appreciate it. And that does not mean spending a lot of money. Here are just some of our favorite last-minute ideas that are Amazon Prime Eligible, thoughtful and totally affordable.
Last minute Valentine’s Day gifts for HIM (under $35):
1. Blocking Leather Passport Cover
[amazon text=RFID Blocking Leather Passport Cover&asin=B004M6ZWKQ]. If you are travelers like we are, this is an inexpensive stylish gift that is actually very useful! I couldn’t tell you how many times we have bent our passports by throwing them in purses or overly stuffed backpacks or lost our custom slips. This way your most important travel possession will stay nice and safe for all of your upcoming adventures.
2. Favorite Comfort Food
Going out for V-day either on the 14th on the weekend before doesn’t have to be expensive and fancy. Instead go with his favorite comfort food. Pizza, tacos, burgers? With so many amazing new restaurants around the city possibilities. And I’m not talking Burger King. My guy’s favorite is the Lyn65 Burger (and fried chicken). {photo credit: Lyn65}
3. Recreate your First, Second or Third Date.
We did this a few years ago and it was so fun! Our first date was low key at a neighborhood burger joint called the Lowbrow. Reliving that first fun and awkward night was quite hilarious. Thinking back at those butterflies and doubts and questions. Jeez! And thinking about everything that has happened since that first date. So pick one of the most memorable first couple of dates and relive it. It is worth the journey back in time. {photo credit: Lowbrow}
4. A Gift Card for a Hobby
Hopefully your man doesn’t have a crazy expensive hobby. Perhaps he is into hunting or fishing or tools or reading or sports. Get him a $25-35 gift card and let him buy himself a toy. For my stud, its fishing. With a fishing trip looming, this is all he is thinking about. And you’d be surprised what little trinkets and gadgets he can get for little money.
5. Growler from a Favorite Local Brewery
If your man is a beer lover, there is good chance he will absolutely love a locally brewed growler. With so many micro-brewery popping up everywhere it’s not hard a find a good one nearby that sells cool growler. Not only does he get to enjoy a killer brew, but you can keep the growler and buy refills as well. If you do not know what kind of beer he likes, ask his friends. They will know 😉 {Photo: A local favorite Dangerous Man}
6. DIY Framed Photo Collage
[amazon text=DIY Framed Photo Collage&asin=B00VB4K734]. Buy a 11×14 in frame or a similar size and print a few different sized photos. Simply glue photos to create a cute custom collage. Include photos of you and him, adventures you took together and photos of the him with the kiddos (or doggie). This is a simple homemade gift that is perfect to display at his desk. {Photo Credit & idea: Pinhole Press}
7. Natural Massage Oils
[amazon text=Natural Massage Oil&asin=B019FW8PA0]. Nothing says Valentine’s day like some lovely smelling candles, soft music and a massage. Am I right? This is a gift for both you and him, but it’s still one that is fun and exciting. I love these in particular because they are all natural and smell of lavender which is so relaxing.
8. Travel Toiletry Bag
[amazon text=Travel Toiletry Bag&asin=B019FW8PA0]. This is another grown up gift that every man needs. A manly toiletry bag for your next getaway or staycation perhaps? I love the mix of fabrics and the casual/grown up feel. Plus it’s an excuse to chat about your next trip together wink wink.
9. Moscow Mule Mugs
[amazon text=Moscow Mule Mugs&asin=B00MZECCKA]. Who doesn’t want a pair of these to adorn their bar? Not only are they a stunning piece of hardware, but they are perfect for winter drinks. Obviously made for Moscow Mules, but also ideal for vodka or gin drinks. And they can also be used for hot and hard winter beverages.
10. Benedictine Liquor
Benedictine Liquor. If your special guy is into new and exotic liqueur like mine, surprise him with a small 375ml bottle of Benedictine. A distinct flavored liqueur with a cognac base that has an interesting story. Hailing from France, Benedictine was originally made by monks. In the late 1870s, Alexandre La Grande, found the ancient recipe in a family trunk and started to make it for retail. Pretty cool if you ask me. Plus it is great in cocktails too (if sipping isn’t your thing). Try one of these 3 Badass Benedictine Cocktails.
No matter what you choose to do on February 14th, show your loved ones you care and do something nice for yourself. In the end that’s what it’s all about ❤️️❤️️❤️️
