Happy Friday!
Today I’m writing you guys from hot and sunny Texas, sipping on a cold Shiner Bock beer sitting in a shaded patio in my parent’s yard.
It has been a family filled week. But this trip has been extra special since my grandma from Venezuela and aunt from Italy are both visiting too. It’s such a crazy feeling seeing people after years and years. Its been bout 8 years since I’ve seen my aunt and about 5 since I’ve seen my grandma. And it’s the first time they have met the baby too!
Although my extended family all live outside the US and we rarely see each other, it’s so fun when we do. My grandma is particular is hilarious. She is old and slow but quick-witted and has an awesome sense of humor. I seriously just spend most of my time laughing with her and at the funny things she says. She has tons of stories. And really never stops talking… but its funny. Sometimes she just talks and no one is even listening. But its cute.
With my aunt it’s all food. We have been sharing food stories. Both speaking of us speaking Spanish to each other, mixing Italian works or English words, comparing food from Italy and here. Oh and as the total food nerd that I am, I am on cloud 9 over the gift she brought me. A giant chunk of real Italian Parmesano Reggiano, home-pressed olive oil and a [amazon text=hand made wooden maker&asin=B0047T6VAI] made in the Abruzzo region of Italy! Ok to me, these are the coolest gift ever! So needless to say, I will be making some homemade pasta very very soon!
The next few days will be filled with Mexican food, beach time, Italian food, family time, and BBQs. Basically lots of food, family and cooking. The best in my book.
Also I have to tell you guys that baby Poppy has been a complete angel! She normally does fine on trips with a little crying here and there, but this trip has been the best one yet. She has slept the same as she does at home, been friendly to everyone literally everyone! Family, random people, everyone. This baby impresses me everyday. On top of that she has been such a foodie baby over here. Trying Venezuela cheese, yucca, Mexican food and pretty much anything you give her. I love this little munchkin to pieces… what can I say.
Have a fabulous weekend everyone. I will be soaking up the family time and Texas sun. See ya next week!
How is this music video not a parody? Oh no friends this is for real. haha.
Our new [amazon text=must-have baby product&asin=B002B55AC0]! Especially when eating out and traveling with our foodie child.
Totally going to try these organizing tips at Casa T.
I want to do this in our master bath. Cute idea.
Don’t forget to celebrate dads soon.
Hummus, noodles and tomatoes… a recipe after my own heart.
Strange list of ingredients, gorgeous flavor combination.
Super fun kid party idea! Putting it on the list for Poppy’s 2nd birthday.
No favorite site of the week since I have had very little computer time. Instead it’s all about www. Family .com.
