Thanksgiving is almost here! Time to get menu planning! But don’t stress. Today I’m cover our Favorite Thanksgiving Recipe Round Up including breakfast!
[Post updated 11/16/19, original post 11/11/16]: Thanksgiving is around the corner and we are staying put this year. With family coming to us last minute we are excited to make our favorite holiday classics.
This is my go-to list of Thanksgiving favorites although I’m always excited to try one or 2 new things. I’ve got my eyes and stomach set on Ina’s Brussels sprouts, a new gravy recipe and a new pecan pie recipe!
One of my favorite things to do over the holidays, especially if we are hosting, is menu plan! I can literally spend hours surfing the web or flipping through cookbooks for new awesome drool worthy recipes.
The ironic thing is that I do this mass amount of research every year, but we end up sticking to the same trusted and loved recipes. Why? Because they are absolutely positively incredible! So instead I make new and different thanksgiving type recipes before or after Thanksgiving, just for fun.
So today, I’m excited to share our Thanksgiving Recipe Round up. Everything from breakfast to the main turkey to dessert! Some recipes were found in books, some were inherited from family and all are nicely documented on the internet to make life easier.
Happy Thanksgiving menu planning!
Thanksgiving morning Brunch
You don’t actually have to slave away in the kitchen all morning on Thanksgiving day to enjoy a decadent breakfast or brunch. Instead I like opting for easy or make-ahead dishes. Our thanksgiving morning normally starts with a cup of yogurt and coffee to hold us over until brunch time. Then we make 1-2 big main dishes, one sweet and one savory along with fruit.
Overnight French Toast Casserole
Buttermilk Coffee Cake (similar to my mother-in-law’s)
Buttermilk Waffles with fruit and homemade whipped cream
Mid-day Snack or Appetizers
With some much good food looming, lunch doesn’t really happen. Instead we snack and do small apps. Nothing fancy, just fun easy stuff, while we hang out, and drink wine.
Hummus with Veggies or Pita Chips
Spiced Rosemary and Thyme nuts
Prosciutto Wrapped Feta Stuffed Dates
Main Dish
Gobble gobble gobble.
Sides
The best part of Thanksgiving in my book. A few starchy and a few vegetable sides create the perfect balance.
Roasted Balsamic Brussels Sprouts
Drinks
On a day of family and relaxing, drinks are always in order.
Transylvanian Manhattan without the worms
Dessert
Can’t have a holiday without a show-stopping dessert table.
Hope you love our favorite Thanksgiving recipes as much as we do! If you make them, don’t forget to #sweetpoppyseed on social media or send me a comment 😊 I’d love to from you.
Most of the recipes links and photos are from amazing writers, bloggers, chefs and cooks who I follow. There are also a few personal recipes sprinkled in. All recipes have been tested multiple times 👍
