Tiramisu is an angelic dessert combining some of my favorite things. Coffee, chocolate and mascarpone cheese! Oh my goodness… help me! It is the kind of decadent elegant dessert that makes you feel as if you are on a romantic Italian date night on a quaint little balcony in the middle of Rome. Seriously it’s that good.
I’m not in Italy. I’m in Minnesota instead. Same right? Not quite. And right now outside, it’s hot. For our standards at least. When it’s this hot, I have to admit, it is hard to enjoy hot coffee. Even though I love coffee, drinking hot coffee when you are warm and sticky is not all that great.
A couple summers ago, I gave iced coffee a try. I was a little skeptical because there is something so comforting and cozy about hot coffee that I did not think could be replicated. But I found ice coffee to be refreshing in a different way. It is light, cooling, and smooth without the bitterness that sometimes hot coffee has. It’s the perfect combination of cool summer flavor with the little jolt of caffeine that we all need sometimes. As a parent, by sometimes, I mean all the time.
When I started drinking ice coffee, I thought, I would just need to brew hot coffee and then stick it in the fridge. BAD IDEA! The coffee becomes super bitter and it does not taste good at all! Luckily nowadays, cold brewed coffee is everywhere and there are pretty awesome companies making some delicious organic cold brew bottled coffee.
One of my favorites is Bizzy Coffee. When I do not have time to make my favorite cold-brew at home, Bizzy is where it’s at! It is a local Minnesota based company brewing some of the best cold brewed coffee out there. This insanely delicious coffee is brewed for 18 hours using a perfect blend of organic coffee beans. And since it is a concentrate, one 16 ounce bottle makes 6 drinks! Crazy right! And best part is that it is just coffee. No fillers, no sugar, no random chemicals or calories. Just liquid coffee gold!
Bizzy Coffee is a drink that can be enjoyed cold or hot… BUT it also makes for a unique and ideal ingredient for desserts. One of my favorites in particular: Tiramisu.
I use to think Tiramisu was a fancy, expensive, and complicated dessert. Something I could only get at fancy Italian restaurants. But after making this with my Italian Aunt, I realized it is deceivingly easy with only a few basic ingredients.
An unmistakable mouthful of Italian flavors all in a simple no bake dessert. And Bizzy Coffee takes this treat to a whole other level.
Big shout out to my Italian Aunt Gloria as this is her fabulous Italian recipe. Grazie Zia!

Tiramisu
Makes a 9×13 pan. Tiramisu can be chilled up to 4 days.
Notes: For the coffee, I would highly recommend using Bizzy Cold Brew Coffee Concentrate but if you do not have any, strong brewed coffee or espresso work great as well! As for the lady fingers, check the Italian section of your local grocery store.
This is a great makeahead recipe. Make it the day before and enjoy the next day.
- 4 eggs, whites and yolks separated
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 8 ounces Mascarpone cheese
- 1 lbs package of Italian lady fingers*
- 4 ounces coffee (2 ounces Bizzy Coffee Concentrate with 2 ounces water)*
- 2 ounces dark chocolate, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon rum (coffee liquor or brandy work as well)*
- Unsweetened cocoa powder (optional)
Dipping both sides of each ladyfinger into coffee mixture, line bottom of your 9x13inch baking pan with enough lady fingers to cover the bottom in one layer. Trim edges to fit if necessary. Spread half of cream mixture on top. Sprinkle the finely chopped chocolate over the cream. Dip more ladyfingers in coffee, one at a time, to cover another layer over the cream and chocolate.
Spread remaining cream mixture on top and dust with cocoa. Chill, covered, at least 4 hours.
Serve cold or at room temp and enjoy!
All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to Bizzy Coffee for providing product for this recipe and the giveaway!
