With only 2 more weeks to go until I get to meet our new family member, I think a Pregnancy Update – 38 Weeks (baby#2) is overdue.
Officially 38 weeks! WOOHOO! Only 2 more weeks to go (hopefully)!!!
Everyone warned me that being preggo in the summer was the WORSE! But honestly it’s not that bad.
Yes I feel warmer than usual at night but that seems to be the worse of it. Overall I feel just as big and uncomfortable as I did during my first pregnancy. The difference is that this time I can enjoy glorious warm weather and all the city summer happenings. Not too shabby 👍
Feeling
B.I.G! Belly Is Growing like crazy! I know I’m getting pretty large when my pregnancy clothes don’t fit anymore. But it’s the home stretch, so I’ll just rock the same 2 dresses and 2 workout outfits for the next few weeks! Ha! Don’t judge!
Major heartburn, random belly cramps (Braxton Hicks contractions), tired feet, and thirsty all the time! Stairs are my arch nemesis and each time I climb up I feel like I’m climbing Mount Everest! Sad!
OH and of course the constant little alien trying to escape my belly! This kid is so active… constantly poking, kicking, punching, and ramming her little butt into every corner of my belly! It feels like she is constantly doing somersaults… all day and night!
Food
As my belly gets bigger and bigger, my stomach is getting smaller. So my meals have been on the smaller side. I’m still eating like I use to, heavy on the veggies and non-animal protein, light on dairy. With the summer farmers market in full bloom, the veggie options are endless, so it’s been fun loading up on fresh veggies.
Craving wise, I’ve been all over the board. Most of the time I am thirsty which makes me crave fruit like crazy! Watermelon mostly but now I’m really into pineapple and cantaloupe! Then of course I have the weirdo days when I crave things like lemon juice, mustard, cereal, sauerkraut, or salt. For example a few mornings ago, I made kale eggs with a big serving of kimchi and mustard… doesn’t get weirder than that!
My fav breakfast lately are hydrating green smoothie bowls topped with granola. Lunches are normally giant zucchini noodle veggie bowls or leftovers. And dinners are a good mix of healthy proteins, carbs and veggies! Dessert is a slice of something delicious or homemade trail mix.
Exercise
So I quit truly “working out” a months ago. For me, a 30-60 min daily nap walk and the craziness of being a stay at home mom is plenty of exercise. I am so active in general entertaining my kid, walking the lakes, cooking, and running around town that each day seems like a workout.
Trying to fit in 30-40 bench push-ups a day to keep my arms somewhat strong and weed the yard once a week. Other than that, I’m letting Poppy run my exercise routine! This kid is quick, so chasing her at the playground or pretty much anywhere is a workout.
I will say, I am so beyond pumped to start running again!!!! Fingers crossed I can start in October🤞
Mood
Extra grateful. Really. It sounds cheesy but it has been such a lovely summer that I often go into a daze while driving just feeling grateful for everything. Thankful for everyday adventures, for my husband, my toddler, our house, neighborhood, family… just life.
And sometimes I do get a little anxious about life with an infant again but aside from dreading the breast-feeding, I am looking forward to the madness. I’m ready for this next chapter to begin. 9 months of waiting is too long!
Sleep
I am starting to feel much more tired than before which being me, I HATE! I detest feeling tired in the middle of the day. It’s my least favorite feeling! My solution so far has been to stay busy and throw myself at my work as much as I can, in the hopes that I’ll crash hard at night.
My tactic works most of the time, although sleeping is pretty uncomfortable no matter how tired I am. It’s hard to find a comfortable sleeping position with a watermelon belly!
One weird thing that did start happening lately, is I wake up in the middle of the night thinking “am I in labor” anytime I feel an intense kick or little cramp. Basically any new feeling I get sends my mind straight to labor. Clearly I am ready to do this!
Life in general
Busy savoring every summer moment. I’m also trying to get as much done as I can for the blog since I know, I’ll be pretty busy/zombie-like the first month with an infant. Lately it’s all about work and fun. Working early in the morning, during nap time, grandma dates, Dada dates, and bed time. Then family fun anytime Poppy is awake.
We are ready to meet this little one and start life as a family of four. Counting the days 🙂
I’M READY! LET’S DO THIS!
