What’s better than a comforting little jar of creamy Homemade Chocolate Pudding topped with crunchy heath toffee bits? 2 jars?
Did anyone else grow up loving those little pudding cups? Man those were good! I use to love the tapioca one and chocolate one!
Those where such a treat! My mom rarely bought them so when she did it was like WOW! Pudding Magic! As a kid I remember dipping teddy grahams in my chocolate pudding. So good!
Then I got old and honestly forgot about pudding all-together. Until I met the hubs.
One day out of the blue while running around at the grocery store, he mentioned how much he loved pudding. So I set out to try to make an easy wholesome homemade version.
Let me be the first to admit that for most of my life I thought pudding had to be made by using one of those pudding boxes. The ones in the Jell-O aisle!
Luckily my very incorrect notion was quickly corrected after watching the Food Network channel.
Back when we had cable, before kids, I was obsessed with watching Ina Garten, Pioneer Woman and a few others like Tyler Florence.

Like this Chocolate Pudding.
A homemade simple recipe at its finest. Simple pantry ingredients, easy preparation and deliciously soul fulfilling results. My kind of cooking.
This recipe is perfect the way it is and does not need any alterations.
My only addition is the topping. I believe a good creamy pudding needs a little texture. And my favorite way to eat and serve this, is with a good sprinkling of heath toffee bits.
A nice heath crunch on top of the most velvety homemade pudding! My 10 year old self is salivating!
And as for serving this up, I like making it in little jars, all different shapes and sizes, rustic style. I even made 2 in tiny jars for my toddler who loves this pudding too! (minus the toffee bits)
Thank Mr. Florence for teaching me that pudding does NOT need to be made with a box and can be simple, wholesome and easy to whip up at home.
This Homemade Chocolate Pudding has nothing on the packaged stuff! If only I would have known that 20 years ago!
