We are back in grey and gloomy Minnesota after a sunny vitamin D filled Florida trip. Time to get ready for spring!!!!
While in Florida, I realized it is impossible to be unhappy or upset at all when it’s 75 degrees and sunny out. Sitting by the pool or in front of a turquoise ombre shaded ocean is just pure happiness. Literally not possible to have a bad day with beach and weather perfection. It’s kind of insane! Completely mood changing.
Even though our trip had its little bumps, like Poppy getting sick for 2 days and the hubs getting food poisoning for another, it was absolutely fabulous. I didn’t get sick woop woop!
For us this was really the first time to deal with a sick kid on a trip. First thing I learned is to take it slow. Luckily this was a laid back trip with few concrete plans, so it was easy to shift things around to allow Poppy to recover. Also this meant, lots of vomit clean up and little sleep. Again, not ideal, but impossible to upset or bummed out when bathed in so much sunshine!
Second thing is don’t leave the house or hotel without wipes, at least 2 plastic bags and 1-2 change of clothes in case of accidents. Last thing is just to just be flexible. Our little girl was able to kick her sickness in 2 days and enjoyed the rest of the trip. No big deal.
Highlights of this trip included:
- Dinner on the beach while watching sunset.
- Watching Poppy walk and play in the sand. Nothing cuter!
- Daily afternoon runs and yoga by the pool during nap time! Total and utter bliss!
- Eating the freshest fish at our favorite spots.
- Relaxing family time.
Like most winter trips, this one was especially revitalizing! It was a great week to kick start spring healthy eating, lots of runs (even for this preggo lady), daily yoga, lots of vitamin D, and daily 5 minute gratitude journaling.
Now that we are back home to the daily grind, it’s time to gear up for spring! For us this means, planning out house projects, activities, baby #2 preparations, lots of spring cooking and MORE!
To start off I really need to make a prioritized list of all the things I want to do and get accomplished in the next 2ish months… a realistic list. Also with baby on the way, I am trying to keep things into perspective as I will be crazy huge by summer time.
For example, I really want to build raised garden beds and start a killer veggie garden, but lets be real. I am going to be ginormous by summer and will not feel like gardening. I know myself. I will choose lake time with the babes over gardening in the yard. So that has been taken off the list for this year.
Ahhh just thinking about summer is making me so excited. Ha! Only 2 more months and then it will be JUNE! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!
Alright, it’s time for me to stop day dreaming over here. Seriously as I am writing this, I have about 12 internet tabs open researching everything from an herb garden, to indoor plant décor, to coconut pudding to running shoes. I am going down the inter-webs rabbit hole fast!
So friends, in conclusion (that’s right I will finally stop talking), I am excited. It’s going to be a great 2 months of fabulous recipes, getting life things done, and slowly watching winter melt away.
I wish you a fab FriYay, happy springtime and above all, happy spring cooking and eating!!! Thanks for stopping by as always!
Laterz 👊
