Happy Summer! OK I know it’s not officially summer but with weather this gorgeous it feels like summer. I feel like Olaf. And I’m happy right now. So happy in fact that I was just doing happy cartwheels yesterday because life is good, the weather is beautiful and WEEEE it feels like summer!
On the cartwheel note, apparently my cartwheels are hilarious because baby Poppy laughs and laughs and laughs every time I do them! It must be my perfect cartwheel form that makes her laugh… mmhmm that’s it.
I am pretty happy right now. With our pending move and upcoming house projects plus teaching tennis lessons and baby, life is busy. And even though things are somewhat stressful, I love being this busy. Living life with a packed calendar is kind of exhilarating. Talk about type A right? Going from appointment to appointment to appointment and then finding little gaps between them to get a little extra done here and there makes me oh so happy. And every day for the next 5 or so months it’s gonna be nuts! Bring it 🙆
Earlier this week, while we were supposed to be packing, baby and I got sucked into Snap chat. Does anyone else love the filters? They are so ridiculous and yet I still wasted about 15 min of my life playing with them. I mean crazy cat lady and puppy filters? How great is that!? Even cuter on a baby! Behold some of our masterpieces
Food wise, I have been on a mission to make nutritious finger food for the little one. This week we tried quinoa cauliflower bites. She seemed to like them and although they are a bit messy, she was able to pick them up with her little tiny fingers. Also Eggy Toast Stick. Essentially eggs and toast squished together… think French toast but much more egg. It has been a fun challenge to make finger foods out of everything she eats.
Also new on the baby food front are new hairstyles. Oh yes it seems like every new food means new hairstyle. Baby Poppy loves to run her sticky foodie hands thru her cute little locks while she eats, hence food hair. Egg hair, mac and cheese hair, meatball hair… so chic and stylish. Then after a quick bath she gets a mohawk. Because I am obsessed with baby mohawks! Just wait ‘til this girl gets more hair. Baby mohawks every day!
Lastly I want to talk cookies. Last week I told you guys about T-Rex Cookies which opened at 3338 University Ave SE. Let me tell you, it’s awesome! Cookies are some of the best I’ve ever had! Half of pound of soft and chewy and sweet and oh my gosh! This time we went with the chocolate chip toffee cookie and peanut butter. It took us 2 days to eat them both because they are so big and filling but wow they are so good. Tina Rexing (T-Rex cookie mater) knows her cookies. Also the place is so adorable! Adorned with whisk lighting and large whisk door handles, the space is large and airy with beautiful exposed brick walls. Obviously T-Rexs are hidden in little corners here and there but overall it has a lax coffee house feel. All I can say is we will be going back soon soon soon for more cookies and coffee. Well done T-Rex Team!
Links to waste a little time before the WEEKEND!
Casa T has several large rhubarb plants which means this will be happening soon.
Making yogurt looks kinda fun! Maybe a food project for when I have an extra time. Maybe next year.
Differing opinions on how to brew cold coffee. Ice brew vs cold brew.
Toddlerography. It’s the new hot thing.
Chopped has never been so funny.
This made me laugh hard! The hubs likes this one.
Anthony Bourdain on food, plane food.
How cute are these cupcakes! So perfect for a baby birthday party.
Once this whole moving business is over, we will be celebrating with these.
Favorite site of the week: Closet Cooking. This is one of those food blogs that is not flashy or fancy but makes some great food. Super easy and straightforward recipes that are not super involved or complicated. Also love how Kevin cooks in a closet sized kitchen! If he can do that, there is hope for all of us!
