Hi guys. How’s it going? How are things? How’s life? Here it’s raining. Raining, raining and raining. Everyday raining. Grey and yep, you guessed it, raining. Although this morning it’s magically sunny… what?! 💃
This week has been quite the mixed bag. Good news: Baby is sleeping through the night! It’s true! No more waking up in the middle of the night for a bottle! She is sleeping straight through which means I am sleeping straight through! Hurray! Somehow this whole 2 short naps during the day and early bedtime is working! Plus she is learning how to self-soothe and fall asleep on her own. She calms herself down by playing with her hair. Cutest thing ever!!! Each night has gotten significantly better from 2 hours of crying to 1.5 to 1 hr. And last night by some miracle (or the fact that she skipped a nap) she fell asleep without crying at 720pm! Mind blown! The hubs and I are like 😱
Next on the news train: House is sold! Woot Woot! Now let the packing party begin. Even though it’s going to be to challenging to pack with speedy miss crawly pants, I’m excited. In my 29 years, I’ve moved over 15 times, so packing is second nature to me. Yea it sucks but it’s the beginning of a fun new adventure!
In other good news: Tennis tennis tennis! Lessons are happening. I am excited to start coaching next week! Woohoo! Don’t forget, if you or anyone you know is interesting in some tennis fun, hit me up (val@sweetpoppyseed.com).
Bad news: I have a small injury. No more races for me right now. Blargh 🙁 So I’m taking my friend CB’s advice: give yourself 2 days to pout and complain and then move on and do something about it. I don’t have a perfect plan yet but know that I need to start an injury rehab routine and need to find a different form of exercise to do in the meantime. I’m thinking yoga or Pilates. And walking. We shall see what I come up with.
Last but not least, Sweetpoppyseed.com has hit 3000 views this month! Woohoo! Thanks everyone for your comments and support. Checking out the recipes, reading posts and sharing the site with friends has made this happen. This site is my second baby and I love nothing more than reading your comments and hearing about recipes you’ve tried and liked ❤️

So impressed by this place. I think I could totally live in a space like this.
Review on the 5 most magical recipes on the internet. Very very interesting.
The cutest little baby pillow!
Ever wondered what Za’atar is? Check it out. This is on my to-make list.
Insane pasta and burrata goodness! Salivating….
Hair Update! The coconut treatment was amazing! I did not apply heat but simply massaged coconut oil in my hair and let it sit for about 40 min. OMG my hair was so silky! As a good friend put it, “Disney princess soft hair”… no joke. This will become my regular hair conditioning treatment for sure!
Favorite site of the week: A Beautiful Plate. Simple, fun and absolutely beautiful recipes from Laura in Chicago. Love her snaps on snap chat and she just got the cutest dog! Yep I’m a sucker for dogs. Great site with tons of recipes that are all doable for a home cook.
