Need a last minute crowd pleasing Halloween party snack, how about our favorite Fa-BOO-Lous Chex Mix. Easy to make but hard to stop eating.
[Recipe updated 10/20/18, originally posted in 10/24/16]: As an update to this 2017 post, even though Halloween was not my favorite holiday, that has quickly changed with kids.
Both my kiddos are beyond excited for Halloween this year. They have been talking about it for a month! An adorable witch (from Room on the Broom) and a fairy ballerina are making this Halloween extra special this year.
I have a deep dark secret to share. Halloween is my least favorite holiday. Is that normal? Am I broken? Is anyone else a Halloween Grinch?
Let me explain. I am not into the whole scary part of Halloween. That is probably the whole point of the holiday but I’m a scary-cat and don’t actually enjoy being scared. Hate hate hate haunted houses. Seriously why would you to pay to be scared? I get scared enough walking around dark places at night. ha!
The last time I went to a haunted house was in college. And I remember just grasping on my friends arm for dear life the entire time while screaming every time I heard something. I don’t even think I opened my eyes at all. Not fun! And I would lump scary movies in here too. Not a fan. I’d rather laugh or cry at a movie than have nightmares about it.
Also the whole sexy costume thing is not by jam. The expectation that girls and women should dress up in an extra provocative way is rather degrading. If you want to wear something revealing, more power to you but the culture that has become the norm and dominates costume shops is lame. I say wear whatever makes you feel comfortable or scary or cool.
Now it’s not all bad. There are a few things about Halloween I do really like. I love the cute side of Halloween. My littles in costumes! OMG! I think it is my favorite thing ever! And candy duh! What’s better than a holiday that revolves around chocolate and sugar! And of course, friend/family time! Time to get together, eat fun decorated treats and hand out candy to ADORABLE LITTLE KIDDOS!
As for fun easy Halloween party food, one of our favorites is this Fa-BOO-lous Chex Mix! Two important things to emphasize about this mix. 1. It is so incredibly easy 2. It is technically not MY recipe, it’s the hub’s!
This has become our favorite go-to party snack mix. The perfect last minute recipe for parties, road-trips, movie nights or football munchies. It is salty, a little spicy, crunchy and super tasty with a little umami from the Worcestershire. Another perk, it pairs so well with beer!
Now, this chex mix is not Halloween specific. Nope. It’s dang good for any snack/party setting. But to make it more festive, I like serving it in cute Halloween inspired cups. Plus it makes it way easier to eat out of a cup. Cute and practical. Win win.
With Halloween on Monday, I say scratch the scary stuff or complicated recipes. Stick to a simple and tested crowd pleaser. Bring a big batch of this Fa-BOO-lous Chex Mix to any get together and watch it magically disappear
