Today’s Day in the Life {19 months} hails from Texas since we are down here visiting family. Things have been busy since Christmas between family, work and travel. So with all the new changes in Poppy’s life, I feel like this is a good time pause share what life is life for my busy 19 year old tot.
5:30AM – I wake up early for no apparent reason. But am too lazy to get up. Pretty sure Poppy woke up in the middle of the night, but my mom (aka Abuela) helped to put her back to sleep.
6:30AM – Finally out of bed and Poppy is still alseep!?! Unheard of! My dad (aka Abuelo) left for work already. I’m craving fruit like crazy down here! It doesn’t hurt that my mom has a ton of tropical fruits at all times! I go for cantaloupe and papaya with a dollop of creamy whole milk plain yogurt and the best muesli I’ve ever had! I brought it back from our trip to Germany! Dangit I should have brought back more!
7AM – Computer work time for me!
7:30AM – Baby and Abuela are up! Poppy goes straight to the iPod speaker. This child is OBSESSED with music. She wants it on all day long! She runs up to her dance corner and says “ti… ti.” Which means, “quieres musica?” (want music?) “ti… ti” (yes yes!)
7:35AM – Breakfast for baby. Her favorite 4- ingredient pancakes lovingly made by Abuela and half a banana.
8:00AM – We wrap up breakfast, clean up and plan our day.
8:15AM – Abuela is off to run errands while Poppy and I opt for a walk/park time.
9:05AM – After good 2 or so miles, a few push-ups, and lunges for me, we head to the playground for Poppy. My kid is becoming quite the little monkey climbing on everything in the playground. It’s cute, impressive and scary at the same time.
9:30AM – I make myself a snack, or second breakfast I guess. Cooked cinnamon apples over some oats and raisins. YUM! Poppy sees me eat raisins and wants to try them. So she gets a little cup of dried fruit. She can eat this stuff like candy.
9:45AM – Abuela and I get to cooking for a Venezuela Food Drive get-together she is helping to host while Poppy runs around drinking a fresh cantaloupe smoothie. Straws are the coolest things in the world right now my little toddler. Who knew a straw could hold her attention for so long!?
11:45AM – Food prep is done and we are all getting hungry so we pack up some lunch for our park picnic. A veggie omelet for me and some soup with a side of fruit and cheese for Poppy-pants.
12PM – Park time is a blast as always. My parents have a beautiful park nearby that has several small lakes (ponds really), a super cool playground, walking/running paths and lots of birds and ducks.
12:30PM – We finish eating and play “soccer” with Poppy. Basically we play with a soccer ball, but she doesn’t quite get that you are not supposed to use your hands. Oh well! She also discovers a family of ducks walking from one lake to another. Watching her discover these animals is pretty hilarious because she just quacks at them and then laughs and laughs. You know, that totally adorable belly laugh that only toddlers can manage. We finish our picnic at the playground where Poppy accidentally slams her face against the end of a slide and ends up with a bloody mouth. That’s our cue to leave.
1:15PM – We make it home and it’s nap time! Abuela puts baby to sleep while I hang out outside on the hammock with a snoring dog. Just reading up on some of my favorite Zen sites. This is the life.
2:30PM – I get a bit more work done, eat a cup of dried cheerios and then chat with the hubs. Sadly he is back at home after a lovely week with us here. We miss him.
4PM – I hear my mom wrapping up her food drive things so I come inside to help.
4:25PM – Abuela gets ready to leave and I start making pizza dough in preparation for Tennis Pizza Night with Abuelo! Pizza crust as always courtesy of this recipe.
4:40PM – Time to wake up my sleepy head tot who has been sleeping for over 3 hours! This girl never does this at home. She will normally only naps for 2 hours but here, she can sleep for hours and hours! What the heck!
4:45PM – Abuelo gets home and we go for a long walk with Mocha. Poppy points out all of the squirrels and laughs at Mocha the whole time.
5:45PM – I roll out the pizza dough while Abuelo chops up all the toppings. Poppy helps by dancing in her little dance corner. Oh and of course the tennis starts! Australian Open time! Roger Federer vs. Stan Wawrinka! Anyone else catch this awesome match???
6:05PM – Our 2 loaded pizzas go in the oven! While we wait, Poppy and I Skype with the hubs. We catch up on our day and Poppy keeps pointing at him saying “Dada!” Plus he gets lots of baby besitos (kisses).
6:20PM – Pizzas are READY! We all sit and devour a few slices. Poppy eats a ton of the crust since that’s her favorite part.
6:45PM – Abuelo and Poppy play a bunch while we half-watch the tennis. Poppy’s favorite game with Abuelo is to take anything that he has. So tonight he would grab a pillow to rest his head, and she would take the pillow from him and laugh! Ha what are we teaching her!? Oh well it’s funny 😉
7:30PM – I take Poppy off to bed.
9:45PM – I quick catch up with my mom and then I’m off to bed too. Night!
