Sometimes I don’t have time to make homemade treats so a trusty on-the-go snack for my toddler is a must! Earth’s Best toddler snacks have become our new favorite!
With my little baby growing and changing so quickly, I am excited to start a new Sweet Poppy Seed post series –Currently Loving. Through this post series, I hope to talk about and share products either for my tiny Poppy, for me or for the hubs that we are totally crushing on 💓
Currently Loving is about sharing what works for us and why. We do not tend to buy a lot of stuff in general. So when we do purchase something it is because we truly love it.
When I am dishing with friends, one of my favorite things is to exchange stories about life, kids, and things that are making life better.Currently Loving is my way to exchange stories with YOU, my blog friends . As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts and current loves too! Don’t forget to share in the comments section or send me an email 😃
Let’s start today by talking toddler snacks.
Here is the deal, I’m not going to lie: I love making toddler snacks. Homemade, with my own hands, with love. But at the same time, as much as I always try to have homemade snacks on hand and ready for my hungry tot, sometimes it doesn’t happen. I’m not perfect. I don’t have ample time to bake snacks all day long. Solution – always have a standby packaged snack that I trust, Poppy loves and that feeds her little belly.
I have been a bit reluctant to introduce Poppy to the world of packaged snacks. Mainly because I knew she will have a lifetime with them, so I figured prolonging it didn’t hurt. But instead of prolonging the inevitable, I’m focusing on moderation and quality.
When she was younger, it was natural applesauce and bananas. Those were our to-go snacks. Now things are different. This girl can eat! Seriously she can eat half my meal sometimes.
Scouring the grocery store aisle for organic nutritious snacks, I found Earth’s Best. They are Organic, non-GMO, unsweetened and use no artificial flavors. Good start in my book. They offer lots of different products, but we have only tried the snacks so far.
Then came the taste test…
The first time I gave her an Organic Sunny Day’s Snack Bar, she held it in her little hand and looked at it for about 4 seconds. Not quite sure what it was. Then she took a little bite. I kid you not, her face just brightened up!
She was an instant fan! She had a blast eating the little bar and ended up asking for another one since she saw the box on the counter! I didn’t give her one, but it’s nice to know she liked it that much.
As for the ingredients in these little fruit bars, all are completely organic and normal sounding. Things like organic flours, organic strawberry filling, organic wheat bran, etc. Nutrition wise this is very much a snacky food. Low in calories, sugar and protein makes it a fun treat. Definitely not a filling meal but perfect for a sweet tooth. And will beat out other chemical/sugar laden processed snacks out there any day.
The same goes for the Letter of the Day Cookies. To change up Poppy’s cereal snack, we gave these cute little vanilla flavored cookies a try, and they were another success! Poppy had so much fun eating and playing with them. With a handful of these cookies and some fruit or yogurt, she is a happy camper.
I will admit, as much as the Letter of the Day cookies are delicious (I tried few), they are not as portable as the snack bars. Mainly because they are not individually packed in servings. So it is not a snack I would take on a plane ride or leave in my purse. That said, they are still a great sweet treat to eat at home, at a picnic or to pack up in a little Ziploc baggie.
