With Halloween around the corner, a delicious party snack is absolutely necessary! This year, it’s all about the Cinnamon Sugar Cashews!
Before having kids, our Halloween tradition was always: eat pizza, hand out candy, and then end the night watching Happy Potter and stuffing our faces with a killer homemade snack!
We continued the tradition when Poppy was born because she was too young to go out trick-or-treating. But this year is a big year! The first year our kiddo will be going trick-or-treating! 🎃🎃🎃
Our kid is 2ish years old, and ready to rock her costume and get some candy! Well not really, she has no idea what Halloween is yet, but I probably give her 5 minutes with a bucket of candy and she will figure it out really quickly I’m sure!
Costume wise this year, we went a bit more DIY. Poppy is going to be the animated version of herself, her spirit creature if you will… she is going to be a MINION! HA! I can’t wait!
As for our little bean, I still don’t have a costume for her AHHH! I was hoping Poppy’s old costume would fit but its about 3 sizes too big! So time for me to scramble and find something adorable last minute!
At least I feel good knowing that the rest of our Halloween plan is going to be awesome, especially with this year’s snack… Cinnamon Sugar Cashews!
OK guys did you know that you could make candied nuts by using an egg white with a little water?!?! I didn’t either…but when I found out, my MIND WAS BLOWN!
Seriously how awesome is that! I always thought candied nuts had to be covered in butter to make them delicious, but ever since our friends, the Ceglas, introduced us to this amazing secret ingredient, I’ve been hooked! This is totally a game changer because basically it means I will be making a lot more candied nuts from now on… especially during the holidays or when I have a random leftover egg white to use!!!!
All this recipe entails is a little sugar, spices, and an egg white to create the best most addictive candied nuts ever!!!
Seriously! When I was gifted these, I could not stop myself from eating them. And after making a few test batches, I can honestly say, I still have no self control with these!
Cinnamon sugar cashews are basically the ultimate Halloween snack!
Serves 8
Ingredients
- 1 egg white
- 1 tablespoon water
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups cashews, unsalted
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 2 ½ teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/2 pumpkin spice
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 275°F. Line a cookie sheet with a silicone baking mat or parchment paper.
- In a large bowl whisk egg white, water and salt. Mix in the nuts and coat well. Once coated, drain nuts in a colander to get any excess egg off.
- In another bowl, mix sugar and spices. Add in the egg white coated nuts and stir.
- Spread nuts onto cookie sheet and bake for 45-50 minutes, stir every 15 minutes.
- Let candied nuts cool on the baking sheet completely.
- Enjoy with your favorite costume! Store these snack treats in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
Notes
These are an amazing make ahead snack for parties or get togethers. Also as my friends did, bring a batch of these to your new parent friends, new neighbors, to a housewarming party or even as a Christmas gift!
