4 years ago today, on a hot and sunny day in beautiful Mexico, I married Jason aka “the hubs” aka my best friend.
As I sit here going through old photos and thinking about the crazy adventures we have had in just 4 years, I decided to write you, my love, a letter.
Dear Jason,
The first thing that comes to mind is, Thank you.
Thank you for being here for us. You work hard and are constantly looking for ways to make our lives better, easier and more comfortable. We notice and love you for it.
Thank for taking care of the house. From the mowing to the endless repairs to taking out the trash, you have become quite the skilled handy man and I am not only grateful but proud of everything you do.
Thank you for wearing a cape and chasing Poppy around the house so I can have time for myself. You are an amazing dad. As evident by Poppy saying “I love dada” all the time 😉 You have a unique connection with her that is pretty special and I can’t wait to watch your relationship grow with our little girl over time. She is totally a daddy’s girl and I love that.
Thank you for taking the maternity leave adventure with me. With baby#2 on the way, things will be a lot different. You decided to stay at home with me for the first few hard months and for that I am beyond grateful. There will be hard, zombie like days, when our toddler will be destroying our house, the baby will be crying and I will be exhausted, but I know with you by my side, everything will be OK. Together, we can get through anything.
Thank you for showing me affection and love in front of our little daughter. I want her growing up knowing her mama and dada love each other. Thank you for showing her what a good husband, father and relationship should be like.
Thank you for the mid-day hugs, kisses and “how’s it going?” It makes me smile knowing you are always thinking of me even when we are not together.
Thank you for being the best sous chef I could ask for. Yes I love cooking and do it a lot. But you have really become our steak, pizza, cookie, grill master! I love that you are willing to step up and cook whenever I need you to. You are always willing to either tackle a new recipe on your own or help me with the most tedious laborious tasks. I look forward to eating more of your home-cooked meals once the next baby comes.
Thank you for being silly, weird and totally yourself. Whether it’s your funny dances with Poppy or your terrible songs or your excitement about the dorkiest things, I love you for all of it. You are yourself everyday and in turn makes me feel comfortable to ME.
Thank you for letting Poppy use you as her personal jungle gym. Being pregnant that is something I cannot do. She trusts you 100% and knows dada will catch her, hold her and always welcome her presence. Our little girl loves you.
Thank you for supporting me in all my adventures, ideas, and crazy plans. I am always thinking, changing, planning, scheming. And no matter what I throw at you, you always listen and support me. Thank you for believing in me.
Thank you for remembering that I am still a woman aside from being pregnant and a mommy. You always make me feel beautiful and attractive even when I am feeling like a pregnant Beluga whale.
Thank you for being the level-headed voice of reason and logic in my life. It’s easy for me to lose sight of the big picture and get wrapped up in the stress of life somethings . Thank you for always being the one to listen to my problems and give me good advice, especially when I’m tired, emotional or upset.
Thank you for being the best travel partner I could ask for. We have seen the world in the last 4 years and every trip is a new opportunity to get to know each other even more. And I have to say I love you more now than ever. I can’t wait to keep exploring the world together!
Thank you for loving me the way you do. On good days, bad days, days when I run around making 100 to-do lists, days when I am antsy to move or travel, days when I’m sick and look like death, days when Poppy is a bit of a terror, days when I cry for no reason, or days when nothing seems to be going right… you still love me. Thank you for loving me the way you do. No one is as good as you and for that I love you.
Happy Anniversary, my love.
