Today I’m sharing an exciting new partnership with Mediavine Publisher Network. All thoughts, stories and opinions are my own.
I first decided to start blogging a year and a half ago with the birth of my daughter Poppy. From the very beginning my goal has been to share recipes that I truly love and are both easy and nutritional for busy families like mine.
At the same time I was entering into a new stage of my life, motherhood. A completely new and wild role for me that I also wanted to document and share with others. My successes, failures, good times and bad.
But like most things in life, it’s not as easy as writing and a snapping a few photos. Through my blogging journey I have slowly learned about building a site and photography. About the ins and outs of proper blogging and advertising and so much more.
One of the things that I quickly learned is that having a blog is not free. In my case, there are costs associated with maintaining a site, scheduling posts on various social medias and of course buying and testing, making and re-making so many recipes.
This is why I decided to start monetizing my site, in order to help offset the blogging costs. Honestly I don’t love the word monetize because I doesn’t really scream passion. Just because I monetized my site doesn’t mean I do it for the money. Trust me on this, I definitely don’t do it the money, ha!
I started off by trying to figure out how to add small unobtrusive ads on my site that would collect a few cents here and there via clicks. This was much more complicated than it sounds as I am don’t know how to “code.”
So I gave that a try for a few rather frustrating months, until I heard about Mediavine from a friend. Luckily the hubs decided to help me with all the computer/ad lingo, which also made a huge difference.
Essentially Mediavine is a Publisher Network that connects advertisers to blogs. But the amazing thing about Mediavine is they do so much more than that.
Here is what I’ve experience so far by working with Mediavine:
- Mediavine is able to get top dollar for ad inventory that will show up on my site.
- They optimize the positions, run my ad server and manage advertiser relationships for me which are complicated and tedious to do yourself.
- They have an awesome dashboard that tracks my viewers and earnings.
- Unlike most other networks, they have a flat revenue share which makes it easy and transparent from day one.
- Ad positions are not intrusive and the speed is quick to load.
- I don’t have to waste HOURS trying to figure out how to code ads into my site.
- They treat you like you are a part of a big family and are not only upfront and honest but also on top of things. If my site is missing anything important, they do not hesitate to share this with me. Which is really nice for a newbie like me.
- They are easy to contact, ask questions to or reach out to. Phone, email, messenger, Facebook, so many ways.
- I just learned as a part of the Mediavine team, you get a percentage of your earnings back. Not a huge amount, but definitely a nice little perk.
For all my new blogger friends or aspiring bloggers this is what you need to know before joining:
- If you join Mediavine you can’t run anything else alongside. But honestly being a part of this network, you don’t need to.
- Net75 Payments which means Mediavine waits to have the money in-house from publishers before paying you. After you wait 75 days, you get paid every 15th of the month.
- You need at least 30K pageviews per month to be accepted into the network. This is why I waited until a bit later to join.
In the end, I am beyond happy with my Mediavine experience. And as a new blogger, trying to figure things out the Mediavine Publisher Network has made life a lot easier and more profitable.
Which means…. MORE RECIPES AND SWEET POPPY SEED ADVENTURES TO SHARE WITH ALL OF YOU😊 😊 😊
